AbbVie Foundation

The AbbVie Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to drive transformative change in communities worldwide so that everyone can live their healthiest life.

We are committed to advancing health equity in communities through innovative, multi-year partnerships and through our employee impact programs around the world.

Empowering communities

The AbbVie Foundation believes that transformative change begins in communities. We listen and learn from our partners, empowering them to develop innovative solutions that will address critical disparities and advance health equity in their communities. Since 2013, the AbbVie Foundation has provided $389 million in grants to more than 310 organizations.

We collaborate closely with our partners to address the unique needs of their communities, with a focus on removing systemic barriers, increasing access to care and investing in innovative solutions that have the greatest potential to drive change.

Addressing Systemic Barriers

In collaboration with organizations like CARE, we advance new approaches to address the many factors that influence a person’s health and well-being, including access, education, social, financial and environmental conditions – disrupting systemic barriers and expanding health equity in underserved communities.

Increasing Access to Care

We partner with nonprofits to strengthen community-centered health systems and increase equitable access to quality health care. Together with CommunityHealth, we opened a microsite clinic, bringing essential health services to underserved residents on Chicago’s West Side. And we’re supporting the University of Chicago Medicine's new cancer pavilion, which will bring high-quality cancer care to Chicago's South Side.

Innovative Impact

Through our partnerships with MATTER and Health Leads, we help accelerate innovative, community-led programs and pilot new solutions addressing the most pressing and complex health equity challenges of today.

Our Local Grant Programs

In addition to our multi-year partnerships, the AbbVie Foundation is committed to supporting our communities through our local grants programs, which are designed to respond to complex community needs. We value the deep understanding that our local grants partners have of their communities, to ensure meaningful, lasting impact.

Employee impact programs

AbbVie employees are passionate about making a difference in their communities. Around the globe, our employees give generously of their time, expertise and resources to deliver on our shared purpose and deepen the AbbVie Foundation’s collective impact.

Our employees directly support the AbbVie Foundation’s mission to advance health equity through our industry-leading giving, volunteering and employee support programs.

Giving

AbbVie employee resource groups (ERGs) play an important role in our giving, awarding $700,000 annually in Foundation-funded grants to nonprofit organizations advancing health equity. Through the Employee Giving Campaign, we match employee donations to eligible nonprofits they are passionate about. Since the program’s inception, employees have raised $185 million+ with matching from the AbbVie Foundation.

Volunteering

Our employee volunteering programs, Week of Possibilities and Team Possibilities, unite colleagues around the world by helping advance health equity through community service. Since our founding, AbbVie employees have volunteered more than 428,000 hours in communities around the world.

Supporting Employees

We are committed to assisting our people and their families in times of need. The AbbVie Employee Relief Program provides critical financial relief to employees after disasters and personal hardship and the AbbVie Possibilities Scholarship Program alleviates the financial strain of tuition costs for children of AbbVie employees.
